Hammam, steam, or Turkish baths originated from the ancient Roman tradition, but it was the Ottoman Empire that introduced them to Europe, which is why they are commonly referred to as “Turkish baths.” This tradition has survived to the present day. A modern hammam is a hot steam bath characterized by very high humidity levels, reaching up to 100%, and a relatively low air temperature of 40-48°C. The air is enriched with dense, purified steam, creating a soothing and therapeutic environment. The materials used in Turkish baths are resistant to continuous changes in humidity levels and water exposure. In addition to softening and nourishing the skin, naturally exfoliating and providing antibacterial benefits, the treatment helps remove toxins and strengthens the immune system.
The beneficial effects of salt on skin and respiratory conditions have been well-known for a very long time. For thousands of years, humanity has used this mineral, primarily in its saline form, as a healing agent. Saline solution is used to recreate a salty marine climate within the steam room. As the saline solution is inhaled as an aerosol, the system is designed to maintain optimal hygiene, preventing the growth of bacteria. For this reason, the saline solution is sterilized with hydrogen peroxide, hermetically sealed, and accompanied by a disinfection program to ensure cleanliness and safety.
